ABOUT

I am a graphic designer and artist. Two years ago, I moved to Japan, where I live with my husband, Takanori, and our children, Asa and Atai.

As a graphic designer, I love working with people - accompanying them as they refine their vision and give form to their dreams. I listen to their rhythm, translate their stories into color and visual language, and find joy in creating designs that feel both emotional and clear.

ARTIST STATEMENT

My practice is rooted in an exploration of the inner world of women - their emotions, their bodies, their quiet rituals, and their place within the textures of everyday life. Working across oil painting, illustration, and mixed media, I seek to give form to what is felt but rarely seen: the intimacy of a shared meal, the weight of solitude, the strangeness of being human.

My figures inhabit dreamlike yet familiar spaces - around dining tables, in bathtubs, within abstracted domestic landscapes. They carry the marks of folk tradition and memory, rendered with bold color, expressive line, and an intentional rawness that refuses polish. I am drawn to the tension between the naive and the knowing, the playful and the melancholic.

My work sits at the intersection of contemporary expressionism and folk art, shaped equally by intuition and observation. Each painting is an act of listening - to the body, to memory, to the images that surface when the conscious mind steps aside.

Based in Tokyo, I am continually inspired by the layering of tradition and modernity that defines life in this city - the coexistence of the ancient and the hypercontemporary, the private and the public, the tender and the strange.
